Rajgir, Bihar

Rajgir, meaning “The city of Kings” is a historic town in the district of Nalanda in Bihar, India. As the ancient seat and capital of the Haryanka dynasty, the Pradyota dynasty, the Brihadratha dynasty and the Mauryan Empire , as well as the dwelling ground of such historical figures as the Buddha and the Mahavira , the city hold a place of prominence in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain scriptures.

The Rajgir was the first capital of ancient Kingdom of Magadha, a state that would eventually evolve into the Mauryan Empire. The town is also notable in Jainism and Buddhism. It was the birthplace of 20th Jain Tirthankar Munisuvrata, and is closely associated with the Mahavira and the Buddha. Both Mahavira and Buddha taught their belief in Rajgir, during 5th and the 6th century B.C.

Vishwa Shanti Stupa at Rajgir, Bihar. It is a large white peace Pagoda in Rajgir, Nalanda District ,Bihar near Gitai Mandir. Statue of Buddha are mounted on the stupa in four directions. It has also small Japanese Buddhist Temple with large park. There is a temple near the stupa where prayers are conducted for universal peace. It was one of around 80 Peace Pagodas which have been built around the world by the neo Buddhist organization Nipponzan Myohoji

Rajgir Glass Bridge, Bihar. This glass bridge is 200 feet high . This is located at Rajgir in Nalanda District. This is another advanced way to increase tourism in Bihar. The Bridge is between five hills. The timing for opening is between 9 a.m to 5p.m. This Bridge is built like Hangzhou Glass Bridge, China. This Bridge can accommodate upto 40 visitors at a time. This is nice place to visit, for clicking your best shots.

Ghora Katora Lake, is the natural lake , which means “Horse Bowl” is near to the city of Rajgir in Bihar.

This lake is surrounded by mountains on three of the sides.This Lake attracts migratory birds from Siberia and central Asia during winter.

Hiuen Tsang Memorial hall , this is located near the ruins of ancient Nalanda University, this Hall is in memory of Chinese scholar and traveller Hiuen Tsang.
